Jewish self-determination is a right. Declaring it racist is an attack on Jews. The Green party has chosen to brand Jews who hold this belief as racists and make their equal participation in the party conditional on renouncing it. This is without doubt the most antisemitic and racist motion brought before a mainstream political party in my lifetime. It is Corbynism on steroids.

On 4 October 2026 the Green Party of England and Wales passed a motion declaring that "Zionism is racism". It brands as racism the belief, held by around nine in ten British Jews, that the Jewish people have the right to a homeland of their own, and binds the party to treat that belief "as any other form of racism". Councillors and MPs of every other party are being asked to say, in public, that Zionism is not racism.
